1949 – 1954 Chevy Car Power Brake Booster Pedal Kit Dual + Disc Drum Valves Kit. This is a new heavy duty power brake booster assembly kit for a 1949 1950 1951 1952 1953 1954 Chevy Car. This is for a car that does not have the middle X member cut out. This is a direct bolt on kit for listed applications and along with the Proportioning Valve kit this is set up for disc/drum applications. 7 zinc plated dual diaphragm brake booster. 1″ bore “Corvette style master cylinder. Zinc plated pedal assembly. Also included is a disc/drum proportioning valve kit (self adjusting valve and bracket to mount kit to the side of the master cylinder). The proportioning valve has a zinc finish. This valve is also call a combination valve, as it performs all of the necessary valving functions with a disc brake conversion. These functions include the following. As more force is applied to the brakes and the car begins to lean forward, less braking force is needed in the rear. This valve decreases the pressure to the rear, preventing lock up. Metering is used in the front disk brake portion in the disc/drum system to delay application of the front discs allowing the slower reacting drum brakes to catch up. This provides rear stability on wet surfaces and helps prevent front pad wear. There is no metering function with the disc/disc setup. Drum Brakes require residual pressure of 10 lbs. To be held in the line. This pressure keeps the brake shoes close to the drums giving you a more firm pedal feel. The disc/disc setup does not require this pressure. This valve has a system failure switch that will alert you when half of your braking system is not working properly. Additionally this includes a pair of residual brake pressure valves. One is the 2 Pound Pressure Valve (Blue) for Front Disc Brakes and one is the 10 pound pressure valve (red) for rear drum brakes. These valves are used with a disc brake application where the master cylinder is located under the floor. When the master cylinder is under the floor, it is usually lower than the calipers. Gravity and vibration can cause brake fluid to leak back to the master cylinder away from the calipers, causing a loss of brake pressure. These valves will act as a one way check valve that prevents this type of bleed-back. Without it, there is a good chance that the brakes will drag or give out completely! These valves are an inexpensive and necessary addition to your brake system. This is for TWO valves, one for the front disc brakes and one for the rear drum brakes.
